"After my stroke, I couldn't use my hand...
...now, I'm back in the kitchen doing what I love best."
⚡️ Why electrode size matters in NMES ⚡️

Not all electrodes are created equal — and size makes a BIG difference 👇

🔹 Smaller electrodes = higher current density
👉 More intense, more targeted stimulation
👉 Can feel stronger (sometimes less comfortable)
🔹 Larger electrodes = lower current density
👉 Distributes the current over a bigger area
👉 Feels smoother and often more comfortable
👉 Better for larger muscle groups

What does this mean in practice?

Choosing the right size helps you:
✅ Improve comfort
✅ Target the right muscle effectively
✅ Avoid unnecessary irritation

💡 Top tip:
Use larger pads for big muscles (quads, glutes) and smaller ones when precision is key (e.g. around smaller muscle groups).

⚠️ Remember: placement AND size both matter for getting the best results from your NMES sessions.

Following a stroke leading to arm and hand weakness the therapy team at Vim Health set up their SaeboMAS Mini.

The SaeboMAS mini allowed greater shoulder activity, with reduced gravity and allowed her to reach and react with greater ease and efficiency.

A current goal is to improve functional use of the affected arm, specifically for tasks such as reaching and grasping objects like water bottles.

The SaeboMAS mini enables greater independence in rehab , reduces effort and results in more reps and movement.
